Flying Crooked

I'm just going to talk at you, okay? Feel free to snooze. You get a cybercookie if you read it all.

Ever noticed how rain distances people? Other than the obvious reason, that an umbrella can take out an eye, people look down when it's raining. They frown more. They walk quietly. You say hi, they look startled, and often forget to reply. It's rather depressing. Rain should bring people closer together, you know? Kinda like when I'm wearing a sweater I want to hug people more. It's just so cozy. And a smile warms more than fingers and toes.

I love this weather, because it makes me feel every breath. You can't help but notice how alive you are when the air tingles in your lungs. If I were the age to jump in puddles I would. :) Even though I kindasorta prefer windy days with bright sun where I can tip my head back and feel the warmth on my eyelids and in my hair. Mmm.

Talking about my weekend would take approximately 2 and a half days, since each moment seemed noteworthy. It was the kind of crazy spur-of-the-moment trip where we didn't have to be doing something every moment, but we were still having fun. Stayed up until 2:30 a.m. Friday night having the deep conversations that turn amiable acquaintances into friends. (I love those.) It was five people in a five-seater car. The driver/girl who invited me loved singing along with the CDs, too, and when I sang harmony she didn't lose track or tell me to stop, she sang louder into my notes. It was fun. I love people who love music, and she really truly does. As do the other three people who were with us. Funfun.

You know what? Part of the reason I loved this weekend so much is because I didn't have to think too much. When I think too much I wind up being depressed about something or another, and it's like tying bricks to a butterfly- it just doesn't get you anywhere. (Yes, that was a dumb analogy.) If I didn't know the driver-girl so well now, I'd develop a sad case of hero-worship because she's just plain cool. And she saw a person in me that I hadn't met yet.

Do you think people see you as the person you want them to see? I started wondering about that. Because I kept surprising people all this weekend- they were expecting me to be the quiet one, I think, and I turned out to be... something else. :) Don't ask about the alphabet game. When the topic is sex, Megsy has a... vocabulary...

Anyway. I really love questions that delve into human nature. Because I feel like I just smashed my cocoon to pieces and I'm flying crooked but I'm flying. And it's pretty amazing.
