MISSING: Security Blanket
2009-11-20 - 11:01 a.m.

Feeling: anxious
Listening to: Josh Groban - Believe (over and over and over...)
Reading/Watching: Hellsing (yes, he's got me watching anime, Nimsay. Shut up.)

Last week, I misplaced my daily planner, this halfsize spiral notebook which has, oh, every detail of my entire professional and social life recorded in it.

The level of my utter freaked-outness is true testament to how very, very anal-retentive I have become.

Because seriously. I write everything down in there. And while I may be good at remembering stuff that's already happened, I can never remember what I have planned.

I am so totally screwed.

And tonight! Is Blue October! In Sistertown! I'm leaving work early to pick up Sandman and drive up for an early dinner with Bear and my cousin Tarah before we get in line to grab a good location at the concert (this place is all standing, so basically you can camp in line to stand near the front, or buy yourself a good set of brass knuckles and elbow pads and wrestle your way up).

Tomorrow, I drive Sandman to the airport at 4 a.m. to catch his red-eye to Florida, then a noon showing of New Moon with Hope, before a five-hour tech rehearsal for "A Christmas Carol."

At nine, Sandman's plane lands back in Schoolville. His daughter is coming for the week of Thanksgiving, and since she's only five, he flies there and back to accompany her. I'm going to pick them up and take them to Grandma's house, meaning tomorrow night... I meet his daughter.

I'm more nervous about this than I was meeting his mom, his brother, his dad, or even his allegedly-crazy stepmom (who seemed perfectly nice and normal to me). This little girl is the apple of his eye. He lights up just saying her name.

I mean, I guess it's not hard for me to get along with kids, being a lifetime baby-sitter and teacher, but it has never mattered to me so much. So of course I'm freaking out.

And I don't have my planner, my little security blanket/safety net, to check dates and times and make little OCD to-dos and shopping lists, which usually calms me down when I'm stressed.

Mrph. It's probably a good thing I have a week off to completely ransack my house and find the thing. I may not sleep until I do.
