The Progressive Effects of Sleep Deprivation
2003-10-31 - 11:00 a.m.

Feeling: ::plop::
Listening to: Ben Folds - Rockin' the Suburbs
Reading/Watching: Sword-Born, book 5 in the series

Things I've learned today:

1) It is a bad idea to postpone homework until after Tru Calling and Angel, because between writing, editing, and cramming, you don't get to sleep until 6 a.m. In light of my recent sleep schedule, this is unfortunate.

2) It is possible to do a presentation on seventeenth-century Venetian opera, then take a test on Byzantine, African, Arabian, and High & Middle-Age European empires with two hours of sleep, a handful of chocolate-covered coffee beans, and a bottle of water. Finished the test in twenty minutes.

3) It is not wise to attempt to grab some actual food after finishing said test, because the only thing offering sustenance is the cafeteria, and, silly rabbit, we all know that's not food. Getting a bowl of watery Chinese stir-fry will only put a bad taste in one's mouth and increase sleep-deprived nausea.

4) It is foolish to run up four flights of stairs in an attempt to "get it over with", because you will only arrive dizzy, nauseous, and winded (as a bonus), and almost fall on your ass from the weight of your backpack when adrenaline gives out.

5) It is nice to work in the Honors office, despite its being on the top floor, because when one is dizzy, nauseous, winded, and sleep-deprived, there is a lovely old couch in the back room, and the boss doesn't mind when work-studies take brief naps, just as long as we're not late for our next class.

Going to take this quiet moment to pass out.
