Ways to Amuse Oneself at 1:30 in the Morning
2003-12-05 - 1:59 a.m.

Feeling: Frivolous
Listening to: The Music - Truth is No Words
Reading/Watching: textbook. ohsothrilling.

Finishing up my essays for World History, I'm deleting the prompts I wrote in the beginning, just to get myself going, in the spirit of "write anything until something begins to make sense."

It's funny, how Eddie Izzard lines permeate this entire thing...

1. Compare and contrast the Italian and Northern Renaissances.
The Italian Renaissance was in Italy, and the Northern Renaissance was everywhere else. "Everybody hold still, Leonardo DaVincis painting the picture. Leo, you got that one? Got the painting? All right, now a fun one as well..."

2. Describe the different aspects of the Protestant Reformation.
The Protestant Reformation began with Martin Luther nailing 95 Theses to a church door, saying "Hang on a minute." But in German, so "ein minuten, bitte."

3. Describe the Catholic Counter-Reformation.
The Catholics were rather irritated that all these crazy Protestant/Huguenots were running around doing silly stuff like reading Bibles, so they start making some changes via the Council of Trent. "Theyve split up into different groups: the Quakers, the Bakers, the Candlestick-Makers... the Mormons ARE from Mars, Dad, weve had it checked."

4. Describe the global impact of European expansion and colonization from 1400 to 1650.
Discuss other economic colonization crap, and dont go on a rant about indigenous peoples. "A land completely empty of human existence... who the fuck are these guys?" And how Spain, England, and Portugal each decided they wanted to own everything, because their mommies never taught them to share.

...I promise, the finished product that I turn in will look nothing like this. This part was just to giggle a bit and lighten the mood of imminent annihilation.
